Agenda Item #1:
- Gerard presented PPT slides with the medals proposal
- The initial proposal was expanded to include election of an ISARA nomination committee for subsequent meetings
- The procedure and rules used for the Richard Webster medal (http://www.pedometrics.org/pm/?p=258) may be used as an example to define our own procedure and rules
- The group in attendance liked and supported the idea, and strongly approved of naming the medals after Peter Burrough and Jim Smith
Agenda Item #2:
- Gerard outlined the application procedure
- A delegation from Brazil expressed interest in hosting Accuracy 2012, the group in attendance unanimously recommended that this proposal be endorsed
- Yee Leung proposed that the next meeting or another additional meeting be a joint one with the IGU Commission on Modeling Geographical Systems
Agenda Item #3:
- An invitation was extended to those in attendance, and anyone else associated with ISARA, to become the new webmaster; no one stepped forward
- One proposal is that a member of the Steering Committee become the webmaster, with this duty moving with the office as it changes hands
Agenda Item #4:
- A request was made for all workshop materials to be made available on the ISARA’s web site
- The group in attendance strongly endorsed having workshops during each conference
- A recommendation was put forth by two different attendees and embraced by all attendees that the members of the Steering Committee should have fixed terms; the recommendation is a length of six years; the Steering Committee would consist of six persons, two of which replaced for each conference
- A recommendation was made that once a proposal for hosting a conference is approved, the organizer immediately becomes a member of the Steering Committee
- A suggestion was made that the ISARA join a scientific union
