Location: University of Leicester

John Foster Conference The symposium will be held at the University of Leicester's conference site located in a green, leafy suburb of Leicester about 4 km from the city centre, and set within landscaped, attractive gardens. John Foster Conference Suite comprises newly built (2006) en-suite accommodation (574 rooms), tailored meeting rooms, social spaces, exhibition space and wireless networks. A 300 seat lecture theatre is located in the adjoining Gilbert Murray Hall.

Topics:

All topics concerned with spatial accuracy in a natural resources and environmental sciences context are appropriate, for example:

  • Semantic uncertainty and vagueness
  • Modelling uncertainty using geostatistics
  • Propagation of uncertainty in GIS
  • Visualizing spatial uncertainty
  • Uncertainty in Remote Sensing
  • Spatiotemporal uncertainty
  • Accuracy and uncertainty of DEMs
  • Modelling scale in environmental systems
  • Positional uncertainty

Submissions:

We welcome the submission of both oral papers and posters.

 

Oral Papers: Authors are invited to submit abstracts of no more than 500 words in English on original research for international peer review. Those accepted will be published as short papers in the symposium proceedings (ISBN listed) and presented as oral papers at the symposium. Accepted authors will also be invited to submit a full paper for consideration towards an edited book planned as part of Springer's Lecture Notes in Geoinformation and Cartography series and possibly an international journal. Papers submitted for publication in proceedings or book should not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Posters: Authors are invited to submit short abstracts of no more than 500 words, and if accepted these will be presented at the symposium. Those accepted for poster presentation will have the option of producing a short paper for the symposium proceedings (ISBN listed). Accepted authors will also be invited to submit a full paper for consideration towards an edited book planned as part of Springer's Lecture Notes in Geoinformation and Cartography series and possibly an international journal. Papers submitted for publication in proceedings or book should not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.

All submissions will be online and at least one author will be required to register/attend the symposium. Details for the submission and guidelines for the format of papers and posters can be found elsewhere on the conference website.

Workshops for the symposium will take place on Tuesday July 20th 2010. The symposium will open on the evening of Tuesday July 20th 2010, and will close at 1pm Friday 23rd July.
